Children

On behalf of the Children's Ministry of First Evangelical Covenant Church, we want to welcome you and thank you for "visiting"! First Covenant Church desires to work with families and children to weave faith in Jesus Christ into all areas of their lives. We encourage children to focus on the one most important thing in life: a growing relationship with Jesus. Very simply, we want to see children come to know, love and follow Jesus.

Our vision for ministry is built around the acronym "STARS," which helps guide the purposes for our ministries.

S - Share the love of Christ with others,
T - Train children for spiritual maturity, also towards
A - Admiring God, to bring them together to
R - Rally around fellow Christian friends, and to learn to
S - Serve others.

We are committed to prayerfully providing an environment, relationships, activities and teaching that encompass those values.

Children's Ministry Coordinator

Sunday Mornings

10:15-11:30 a.m. Kingdom Kids & Nursery during service

Nursery

Nursery and child care, birth through age 2, are available during our worship service and Sunday School/LifeTime Hour. Changing tables, rocking chairs, loving caregivers, age appropriate toys, safety and security measures and supplies are provided. A pager system is used to contact parents if the need arises.

Sunday School

A Sunday School program is available for age 2 through 6th grade beginning at 9:00 am. Students are taught in creative, stimulating and age-appropriate environments by a staff of experienced and loving teachers. Group’s FaithWeaver Curriculum is used, operating on a three-year rotation through the Bible, with a variety of resources sent home to extend learning and interaction into the home. Each age group studies the same story each week geared to their age level. Available year-round. FaithWeaver is a trademark of Group Publishing, Inc. and is used here with permission.

Kingdom Kids

Three age groups are included in this program, which is offered during the 10:15 a.m. worship service. Age 2-3 meets for the entire service and has time for play, singing, snacks, crafts, and creative hands-on teaching. Age 4-K and Grades 1-5 are dismissed from worship and the learning from the Sunday School hour is extended through activities, games, crafts, play and teaching that reinforce and apply the weekly theme. Focus is placed on application of Biblical truth. Available year-round.

About Group Publishing's Resources

Group Publishing supplies the curriculum used for Sunday School, Kingdom Kids, and FaithWeaver Friends. All of Group's resources incorporates their R.E.A.L. approach to ministry, reinforcing a growing friendship with Jesus, encouraging long-term learning, and resulting in life transformation:

Relational: Learner-to learner interaction enhances learning and builds Christian friendships.

Experiential: What learners experience through discussion and action sticks with them up to 9 times longer than what they simply hear or read.

Applicable: The aim of Christian education is to equip learners to be both hearers and doers of God's Word.

Learner-based: Learners understand and retain more when the learning process takes into consideration how they learn best.
