CHIC 2009: "UNDONE" E-mail

Over 5,000 teenagers from across the country gathered at the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville July 12-17 to celebrate the Covenant's triennial Youth Conference, CHIC. Our church was well represented by 17 students and 4 adults. The week was an inspiring time of daytime sessions focusing on a variety of topics. Evening worship shared passionate praise music and challenging speakers.

First Cov youth spent two afternoons serving at the "Feed My Starving Children" pavilion measuring bulk soy, vitamins, veggies, and rice into bags that will be shipped to Third World countries. For many people these prepackaged meals mixed with water may be their only meal for 1-2 days. A total of 428,000 meals were packed during the week.

CHIC is the most life-changing experience out there! Between whitewater rafting, rocking out at concerts and praising God and listening to outstanding speakers preach, it is impossible for someone to come back the same person. I myself developed a much stronger relationship with God and understanding of what he wants from me and am sooo glad I got the chance to go! —Dylan

I had the opportunity to experience CHIC for a second time and it seriously WAS one of the best weeks of my life. Being away from everything back home and just being surrounded by 5,200+ teens was just incredibly amazing to me. Worship was definitely one of the main highlights of my week. It just seemed so surreal to me. I am pretty sure I am speaking on behalf of everyone; but God was clearly evident throughout CHIC '09 and it was so amazing to see Him work throughout so many lives, including mine.  —Katelyn

Everything was just unbelievable and they way the week just led up and how God worked through everything. I loved the quote "a friend is someone who loves you despite when they know everything about you" and how that related to the masks we wear and the way we act different when we try to impress people. My favorite song line was "through height and depth and life and death, you won't let go, we're inseparable." And who could forget all the amazing memories?!  —Tyler
